I'm still alive!

School starts tomorrow. For me. I'm worried about leaving Luke who is now only 7 months old. I've got two classes right in a row on Thursdays, so I'll be gone from 2:30pm 'til 9:30pm. I'll be home just in time for Jeff to get ready and leave for his 3rd shift job. I'm sittin' here eating a bag of chocolate chips stressed out about it. Oh, and my allergies have been irritating! The kids go back to school in less than 2 weeks now, (I am ready and so NOT ready!), and there's MORE veggies in my garden that need canning and my brother will be here from Wyoming in less than 2 days and Emily's turns FOUR on Monday and if I didn't say it, just assume that it's happening and/or needs to be done. Gene helped me make some yummy German food for dinner tonight. Cabbage, hamburger, onion, salt/pepper stuffed in a homemade roll! Been craving it. It was everything I remembered. Mmmm! Got lots of pictures that chronicle the last few months that I hope to be able to share soon. 'Til then! -Amy

What's New?

Here's what's been up at our house:

It's a little sad, but here is the last newborn diaper I will ever have to put on little Lukerson. On to bigger and better! (Here's looking forward to solid poops!) ;)

The 100th day of school is tomorrow and Jessa and Will brought home a tshirt and a baseball hat respectively with instructions to decorate each with one hundred items and then wear it to school Tuesday, the 7th.

With the birth of each of my children, Uncle Pat, has gifted each child with a Harley Davidson receiving blanket or baby Harley Davidson bath towel. Yesterday, Lukey got his baby blanket. It's the coolest blanket a baby ever had!

Luke is 4 weeks old today! He is a darling little man and we all love him sooo much. Our family is complete :) He's not lovin' the 'Bobber' so much any more. I shouldn't be so surprised. Boo! I'll keep tryin'.

Caught Emily trying on Daddy's shoes. That's such a classic Kodak moment, I didn't have to think twice. Camera was snatched out of its resting place and when I returned to snap the pic, found she had "accessorized" with some of Daddy's old Sundrop bottles. She's got enough personality for all of us, that girl!

Diapers a mother can't help but Love!

The diaper of 2012:

Actually, I think all my babies had newborn diapers that were notched out around the belly button, (oh, except Will who was too big to fit newborn diapers and had to go straight to size 1 because Newborns kept popping off of him in the hospital!). But something new since Emily that I think is a really cool feature of the diapers Luke has been using is the 'Color-changing Wetness Indicator'. It's a yellow strip that turns green-ish blue when it's been soiled. Now a quick glance without removing the diaper at all will show you if he needs a change. (I can usually smell the poopies, but it's great for wetting!) Anyway, I'm a fan! Luke had his first dr.'s checkup yesterday and he had gained a pound since his birth 2 1/2 weeks ago. That puts him at 9lbs. 14oz. now, so these tiny diapers aren't going to fit for much longer, but I've been spoiled with such fancy pants for my little guy and excited that my new fav. feature is found in size 1 & 2 as well! (Huggies has all of these great features too. I've used both and been happy with both, although, while the Pampers brand seems to be getting on the small side now for Luke, the Huggies are still fitting him just fine.)

Two Weeks of Luke!

Luke, Lukey, Luker, Luke Dukerson . . . This little boy is quickly acquiring a host of nicknames. I know they won't all stick, but he's tryin' them all on for size. My boy, like most newborns, has his night and day a little confused. He's no longer got the dry, shriveled raisin hands and feet that come with the first week of life. I guess that means he's plumping up and adapting to life outside of his womb-room. Yea! I've decided he's got the most hair of any of my babies and I'm hoping it doesn't all get rubbed off. Based on the glimpses we get of his sweet little eyes, it looks like we'll have yet another blue-eyed peanut. His brother and sisters are awesome helpers and we are quickly settling into what it means to be a family of 6.
