She's a GIRL!!!

Emily and I went grocery shopping today. She just turned 9 months old and can sit pretty well in the shopping cart without having to haul in her carseat. Yea! Much more entertaining for her. Anyway, she was lookin' cute in her pink Old Navy fleece jacket and pink pants. All the old men at Aldi's had to stop and get her attention. It was sweet. She refused, however, to entertain any of it and didn't smile at a soul. Next stop, Wal-Mart. While I was stopped in front of the baby food an employee walked by who talked and smiled at Emmy for a second. I could see another employee coming up too and anticipated more of the same. It was more, alright. She approached us and started talking to Emily. Em just stared at her. The woman began to move away, but said something like, " HE'S a cute one!" Now, I understand that this happens with babies. But she was head to toe PINK! Well, it would've rolled off-a me pretty quickly had this woman not turned back around as she was walking away to say, "If he keeps up that look, he's gonna get ALL the ladies!" I don't consider myself made of eggshells, but geez, it kinda hurt my feelings. STOP being FRIENDLY! That should be the standard baby etiquette rule. If you're not sure-just stay quiet. But remember, please, that it was hard to miss the fact that pink pretty much threw up on my baby. Maybe this lady was color-blind? Surely.

  1. oh wow, some people are just not full of common sense. Em is one of the cutest little girls that I've seen and to add to the fact that she was full decked out in pink....sorry Amy. I miss you and love you. You have such a wonderful and cute family, can't wait to come home and visit with you! Love you :)

  2. When I was 8 years old my only sister was 1. She had very little hair so people naturally thought she was a boy. Didn't matter what she was wearing. I remember being at a rummage sale with my mom and some lady making a comment to me about my baby brother. I was so offended. I had 3 brothers and didn't need another. I remember she wore red pants and a polka dot shirt that was very feminine with a bow on it. Some people are just doofuses. (not sure if I spelled that right)

  4. Haha, oh I just love you. But man, that woman has some guts. Even if I did think something like that, I wouldn't say that. Especially to a customer.

  5. stupid people...that can't figure out boys do NOT wear pink until they are manly enough to do so and by their choice not mommy's.

  7. Amy, We had the EXACT SAME thing happen to us with Rylee. She had Pink EVERYTHING!! It was a server at a restaurant and every time she walked by she had to make a comment about how handsome she was. She even called her a lady killer. Needless to say, I wanted to punch her in the eyeball. Some people...
